With the project Ruimten Rondom, Katinka de Jonge explores the relationship between the neighborhood and the gardens, parks and public greenery surrounding the multidiciplair art and community space “de Koer” in Ghent.
Nobody is against trees, and how are green structures used to brighten up the neighbourhood? Is that greenery for everyone? Which species grow there? And what does the local resident think about the trees and plants that surround them?
Katinka maps out the greenery through walks and collects stories from local residents and policy makers about out taciturn fellow residents who, with their roots, leaves, branches and flowers, help determine the individuality of the neighbourhood.
