Wellness Centre Future Proof is a cluster of different intertwined productions, which all investigate the idea of "wellness" as a commercialized variant of "well-being". "Well-being", in turn, is considered here to be holistic, something that includes more than just humans.
One of the central questions of Wellness Centre Future Proof is:
"Can I be Well whilst our world is Sick?"
Attempts to answer this question generate a comprehensive belief system that follows its own logic. This results in hyper-layered installation works that aim at a certain inconvenience for the viewer, and ask questions about climate change, algorithms, and the autonomous thinking power of objects.
Within these installations products are also generated, which on the one hand flirt with
regular "beauty products", but on the other function as a talisman to avert the ecological apocalypse that is rushing towards us.
The Open Source is a multi-media installation with a Shell-shaped Fountain, Porcelain Shells and an Audio-guide.
The Story of ‘Water’ and ‘Shell’ are told by tree characters; Eve, Hydra and Snail. They have a discussion about the ‘planetary currents’. During the audio-guide the Listener is asked to carry a porcelain Shell with them which is filled with Water form the Open Source. In his way they charge it with personal energy. At the end of the tour the Listener can choose whether to ‘free’ the
Water inside the Shell and release it back in the Open Source or to take it home for ‘personal purposes’. In this way determining whether or not the apocalypse will occur.
